Manchester United drew 2-2 with Newcastle on Saturday afternoon at St James' Park, with both teams having two goals disallowed and the match going into extra time before the home side finally won it through a late goal from Anthony Martial.

The first half was dominated by Newcastle, who had several chances to take the lead but were unable to find the back of the net. However, in stoppage time, the Magpies went ahead when Callum Wilson headed home from close range following a cross from Kieran Trippier.

United fought back in the second half, with Mason Greenwood hitting the post and Rashford coming close with a shot that was well saved by Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka. But it was the turn of Anthony Martial to make the breakthrough for United, as he scored his first goal for the club since December 2019 to draw level with the scoreline at 2-2.

The match then went to extra time, with both sides creating chances but failing to find the back of the net. In the final moments of the extra period, Martial was involved in a fierce tackle with Joelinton, which resulted in the Brazilian being sent off. With the game still level at 2-2, Martial stepped up to take a penalty, and he made no mistake, slotting it past Dubravka to give Manchester United a 3-2 lead.

Newcastle pushed hard to try and get a goal, but they couldn't find the back of the net, and the match eventually ended 3-2 to United. It was a tough loss for Newcastle, but they can be proud of their performance against one of the Premier League's top sides.
